When I
joined the BBC as an eighteen year old sound engineer in
1987 I naïvely decided that every programme I made must be
technically perfect. Well, twenty years on I’m still naïve
and I still think that some day I will make the technically
perfect programme. Of course as I get better and more
experienced I get more and more picky about what perfection
would sound like and seemingly ever further from my goal.
The
upside of this slightly unhealthy obsession is that after
twenty years I still remain hooked on refining my skills
and learning something from every project, every day.
Consequently I’m pretty good at what I do.
Just not perfect.
Yet.
